New Zealand Single Track Adventures trading as Tekapo Adventures is committed to the protection of our employees, clients & property from accidental injury or damage from work carried out by, and on behalf of, the business. We adopt health, safety, and welfare as a fundamental business objective.
In meeting this commitment, management will comply with all legislative requirements and take all practicable steps to:
- Provide a safe place of work, safe equipment, and proper materials.
- Ensure activities are reviewed by competent staff (internal technical advisors).
- Establish and insist that safe work methods are always practiced.
- Provide supervision and training.
- Ensure employees and clients understand and accept their responsibility to promote a safe and healthy place of work and are part of the safety management process.
- Comply with all Health and Safety Legislation.
- Prioritize the prevention of serious harm.
- Continually improve health and safety practices.
RISK DISCLOSURE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
All participants must read and understand our Risk Disclosure Form before participating in any of our scenic 4wd tours or adventure tours which may or may not include hiking, herein defined as scenic 4WD tour and or adventure tour.
By reading this form you agree and understand the hazards and risks involved in 4wd tours ,including adventure tours and that you are competent and physically capable of participating in the activity.
Risks you may be exposed to during your tour, but are not limited to, include:
Motor vehicle accident including collision with other vehicles, stationary objects, or the land, rollovers, or vehicle fires.
Your own failure to heed safety warnings, both verbal and written.
Actions of other road users or members of the public which could cause harm.
Risk of falling from alighting the motor vehicle.
Risk of falling or injury due to uneven, loose, or slippery terrain.
Risk of drowning.
Risk of delayed emergency response , delayed emergency care due to remote locations
Risk of injury or death due to natural events such as Earthquakes, Landslide, Flash Flooding, Treefall, Wildfire, Lightning, Blizzards, High River levels, Tsunami, Cyclones, and any ongoing consequences of these events.
Risk of severe injury or death
As a participant, you are aware that you are voluntarily participating in a scenic 4wd tour & adventure tour, and this involves many of these risks and hazards mentioned. I understand that there are many hazards & risks involved in the activity of 4 wheel driving and any backcountry travel which takes place in remote hard to access locations. I understand that I will be travelling into remote locations that will cause delays in rescue and to emergency services and medical facilities.
Hazards : I understand here are many hazards and natural hazards involved in 4wd and backcountry adventure travel, including but not limited to: slippery terrain, high river levels, river crossings, rapid water in creek/river crossing, drowning ,landslides, loose soil, falling rocks, steep drop offs, cliffs, uneven terrain, steep grades, steep gradients, unstable rocks, slippery roots, speed, variety of terrain and gradients, unstable surfaces, trees, obstacles, loss of balance; variation or steepness in terrain; mechanical failure of equipment; variation or changes in backcountry terrain including rocks, gravel, cliffs, trees, roots, tree stumps, rivers, streams and creeks; changing weather conditions; exposure to temperature extremes or inclement weather; travel or transport to and from the sites used for backcountry 4 wheel driving , hiking and the backcountry; travel on highways and backcountry roads; encounters with domestic and wild animals including dogs, motor vehicles, becoming lost or separated, from ones party; Helicopters, extreme exhausts from helicopters, helicopter rotors and loose flying objects, other aircraft.
I am aware that I am voluntarily participating in a scenic 4wd tour & adventure tour, and this involves many of these hazards & risks mentioned. The risks associated with these hazards mentioned include but are not limited to ; delay in emergency care and or rescue, hypothermia, hyperthermia, injury, becoming lost, drowning, loss of limb and severe harm or death.
I understand that by participating in a 4wd adventure tour which may or may not include hiking, may cause me serious harm or death. I also understand that an unpredictable or uncontrollable event may occur that could possibly cause me serious harm or death. I am aware of the implications of my voluntary participation and the consequences involved in a scenic 4wd tour or backcountry hiking and adventure tour. I am aware of the implications of my voluntary participation. I will ensure to pay full attention to the organization’s safety management procedures and directions, guiding principles, including procedures and directions regarding the use of any safety equipment.
Limited Liability Tekapo Adventures
I understand that, I must follow the rules and instructions set out by Tekapo Adventures and the guide, Tekapo Adventures will not be held be held responsible for any injury I cause to myself or another person, or damage to or loss of property. If I damage clothing or equipment, or other property owned by Tekapo Adventures or a landowner, I agree to pay to Tekapo Adventures or the landowner the costs for repairing the damage. Tekapo Adventures will not be held liable for any loss of life or sever injury due to partaking in the adventure activity. Tekapo Adventures will not be held liable for any loss of life or severe injury due to partaking in the adventure activity.
Liability of private land use : I understand that the scenic 4wd tour & adventure tour will take place on private lands, I agree that the owner(s) of the land on which the activity is conducted will not be held responsible for any death, injury, misadventure, damage to or loss of property caused in whole or part by these activities.
I acknowledge that the organization will take all reasonable and practical steps to keep me safe while I am involved in scenic 4wd tour , hiking tour and Adventure tour and its activities involved in the tour, however, I accept full responsibility for my own actions or inaction. I agree that by reading this form, I accept all the statements in this document / webpage and I wish to proceed with the activity at my own risk.
